Welcome to the digital home of The Workroom!

We officially launched with our very first pop-up at the East Nashville Farmer’s Market on August 6, 2014. We showed kids how to connect simple LEDs to clock batteries to add the component of light to their artwork in creative and fun ways. We also had tomato painting and coloring for younger kids. We had a lot of fun, and we’re excited to be back there again September 24th for the Fall Festival.

Even sooner than that, though, is the Mini Maker Faire at the Adventure Science Center on September 13th. Come check out our booth and enter for a chance to win your very own MakerBox!

On the advice of a financial expert friend of mine, today I applied for our federal EIN so that we can open a bank account for The Workroom and apply for our Tennessee non-profit organization status with funds from that account. That should happen later this week. It’s a small step, but an important one.

Lots of exciting things are happening, wheels are turning, relationships are forming, and opportunities are opening up. The hardest part of any new project is turning the flywheel, but once you get going, things really start happening. We’re still turning the flywheel, but good things are ahead!
